Asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis

Reasons for carotid revascularization:

  • Fast progression of carotid artery stenosis (serial 2d echo)

Reasons for carotid stenting:

  • high risk for carotid endarterectomy

Risk factors and medical history

  • HTN
  • Dyslipidemia
  • severe symtomatic coronary artery disease, severe stenosis LAD bifurcation with diagonal branch, CTO of RCA, Provisional stenting of LAD bifurcation
  • AAA 42mm
  • Anti platelet therapy: ASPIRIN, CLOPIDOGREL

Cerebral CT scan:

  • Presence of left and right hemisphere ischemic signs

Angiography:

  • Right internal carotid stenosis 

Planned carotid artery stenting procedure

  • Femoral approach, carotid distal protection with filter,  Open cells stent
